Regular Season Round 16: Sichuan BW - Nanjin Army 106-89

Very expected game when 8th ranked Nanjin Army (4-12) lost on the road to fourth ranked Sichuan BW (11-5) 106-89 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Sichuan BW. Nanjin Army managed to win second period 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sichuan BW dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Nanjin Army's 50. They outrebounded Nanjin Army 57-22 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sichuan BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sichuan BW made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American power forward Hassan Whiteside (213-89, college: Marshall) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 28 rebounds and 7 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and center XiaoDong Chen (207-86) supported him with 23 points and 4 assists. Five Sichuan BW players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by forward Shengyue Sun (198-89) did not help to save the game for Nanjin Army. Forward ChengLin Fan (202-91) added 17 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sichuan BW moved-up to third place, which they share with Jiangsu TX. Nanjin Army lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Sichuan BW will meet at home league's second-placed Changsha Bank in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nanjin Army will play against the league's leader Chongqing FD (#1) in Guangzhou and hope to secure a win.
