Regular Season Round 3: Palmeiras - Vivo/Franca 111-108
Date: August 6, 2013
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Vivo/Franca (2-1) in Sao Paulo on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Palmeiras (1-2) 111-108. It was a great evening for American Antwaine Wiggins (200-88, college: Charleston, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) helped adding 23 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Christopher Hayes (206-87, college: Detroit Mercy) with 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and guard Caue Borges dos Santos (180-91) scored 23 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Palmeiras went down to eighth position due to points difference, which they share with Liga Sorocaba. Vivo/Franca at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Palmeiras is looking forward to face higher ranked Winner/Limeira (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vivo/Franca will play against Mogi in Mogi das Cruzes and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
