Regular Season Round 9: Paulistano - Jacarei 100-85

Bottom-ranked Jacarei (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 100-85 loss to fifth ranked Paulistano (6-3) in Sao Paolo on Thursday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Jacarei's 30 and made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Paulistano forced 19 Jacarei turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Center Rafael Mineiro Rodrigues (213-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) chipped in 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Vinicius Oliveira (200-90) with 23 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Danilo Tavares (-89) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Five Paulistano and four Jacarei players scored in double figures. Paulistano moved-up to third place, which they share with S.Jose/Unimed and Palmeiras. Loser Jacarei still closes the standings with nine games lost. Paulistano will meet Winner/Limeira (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Jacarei will play against Rio Claro and hopes to get finally their first victory.
