Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paulo: Vivo/Franca (#8) and Palmeiras (#5). Vivo/Franca (6-6) smashed visiting Palmeiras (7-5) by 16 points 90-74. Vivo/Franca forced 19 Palmeiras turnovers and outrebounded them 32-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for swingman Lucas Rosa (193-95) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Christopher Hayes (206-87, college: Detroit Mercy) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Hayes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American Antwaine Wiggins (200-88, college: Charleston, agency: Two Points) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Italian point guard Thyago Aleo (188-89) added 16 points in the effort for Palmeiras. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vivo/Franca moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Liga Sorocaba. Palmeiras at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Vivo/Franca will play against league's second-placed Paulistano in Sao Paolo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Palmeiras will play on the road against Sao Jose/Vinac and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
