Regular Season Round 13: S.Jose/Unimed - Palmeiras 83-77

Rather predictable result when third ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (10-3) won against at home 5th ranked Palmeiras (7-6) 83-77. The former international Jefferson Antonio (207-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American forward Edward Nelson (203-82, college: Connecticut) chipped in 10 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Sao Jose/Vinac's coach Regis Marrelli used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Caleb Brown (182-89, college: Austin Peay St., agency: Duran International) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists and the other American import Antwaine Wiggins (200-88, college: Charleston, agency: Two Points) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sao Jose/Vinac. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Paulistano. Palmeiras lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Liga Sorocaba. Sao Jose/Vinac will play against Winner/Limeira (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Palmeiras will play against XV/Raizen (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
