Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Winner/Limeira and 11th ranked Rio Claro had identical 3-11 record. But Rio Claro was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Limeira 76-61 on Thursday night. Winner/Limeira dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Rio Claro's 16. It was a great evening for American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). The former international Renato Pinto (202-78) helped adding 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Winner/Limeira's coach Demetrius Ferraciu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Luisinho da Silva (181-78) with 18 points and point guard Gobor Vinicius (185-90) scored 10 points. Winner/Limeira maintains tenth place with 4-11 record. Rio Claro lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Winner/Limeira will meet at home higher ranked Pinheiros (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rio Claro will play against Vivo/Franca (#8) in Sao Paulo and hope to secure a win.
