Fifth-ranked Palmeiras (9-8) made lots of trouble for third ranked Paulistano (14-4) in Sao Paulo on Saturday. The visitors from Sao Paolo managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected easier game. Paulistano made 34-of-37 free shots (91.9 percent) during the game, while Palmeiras only scored fifteen points from the stripe. Paulistano forced 19 Palmeiras turnovers. 29 personal fouls committed by Palmeiras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was center Rafael Mineiro Rodrigues (213-87) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Paulistano have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-4 record behind leader S.Jose/Unimed. Palmeiras at the other side dropped to the seventh place with eight games lost. Paulistano will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Palmeiras will play on the road against Rio Claro (#11) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
