There was no surprise in Tokyo where bottom-ranked Tochigi Brex (0-2) was defeated by leader Toyota Alvark (2-0) 86-78 on Saturday. Toyota Alvark outrebounded Tochigi Brex 38-26 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Jeff Jeffrey (188-80, college: Otterbein) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Keijuro Matsui (188-85, college: Columbia) chipped in 19 points. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import power forward Darian Townes (208-84) added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Tochigi Brex still closes the standings with two games lost.
