Regular Season Round 4: Huracanes - Abejas 80-90

Very important is a home loss of Huracanes (2-1) against Abejas (2-2) on Saturday night. Host Huracanes were defeated by Abejas in Tampico 90-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Huracanes. The guests trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. They outrebounded Huracanes 41-26 including 21 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) who added 20 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Abejas' coach Daniel Jaule used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American swingman Cliff Tucker (198, college: Maryland) responded with 25 points and 5 assists and international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) scored 19 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Abejas will meet at home Gigantes in the next round. Huracanes will play against Halcones UV Xalapa and hope to secure a win.
