Another exciting game took place in Kanagawa where leader Toyota Alvark (3-0) edged by three points second-best Toshiba Thunders (2-1) 90-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 30-21 Toshiba Thunders' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 90-87 at the end of the game. Toyota Alvark made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American forward Jeff Jeffrey (188-80, college: Otterbein) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Takeki Shonaka (180-84) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Toshiba Thunders at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Wakayama T.. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toshiba Thunders will play again at home against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
