Regular Season Round 4: Corr.Victoria - Gigantes 69-70

Gigantes can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Correcaminos (1-2) on the road game in Ciudad Victoria 70-69. Correcaminos were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 19-16 third quarter run of Gigantes. The winners were led by Phillip Bernard who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and international guard Carlos Toussaint (190-91) supported him with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Gigantes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds by American power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. His fellow American import point guard Marquis Ayala (178) added 13 points for lost side. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Gigantes' next round opponent will be higher ranked Abejas in Guanajuato and it may be quite challenging game.
