Regular Season Round 4: Panteras - Lechugueros 94-84

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Lechugueros (2-1) against seventh ranked Panteras (2-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Lechugueros were defeated by Panteras in Aguascalientes 94-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lechugueros. The game was mostly controlled by Panteras. Lechugueros was better in third quarter 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panteras dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Lechugueros' 38. Strangely Lechugueros outrebounded Panteras 46-34 including 20 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83, agency: Paris Global Sports) who helped to win the game recording 41 points (!!!) and 6 assists. Puerto Rican swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) contributed with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Deilvez Yearby (198-87, college: IPFW) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds and guard Luis Pulido (188-85, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 18 points and 7 assists in the effort for Lechugueros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panteras will play against Toros in Nuevo Laredo in the next round where they are favorite. Lechugueros will play at home against Fuerza Regia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
