Regular Season Round 1: Canberra C. - Sydney UF 68-83

An interesting game for Sydney Uni Flames (1-1) which played road game in Canberra against 4th placed Canberra Capitals (0-1). Second ranked Sydney Uni Flames had an easy win 83-68. The game was mostly controlled by Sydney Uni Flames. Canberra Capitals was better in fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) fired 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her nine free throws !!!) for the winners. The former international guard Alicia Poto (166-78) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Sydney Uni Flames' coach Karen Dalton used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Jessica Bibby (169-79) produced 22 points and international center Abby Bishop (189-88) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Sydney Uni Flames went down to fifth position due to points difference. Canberra Capitals at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Sydney Uni Flames' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Dandenong Rangers at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canberra Capitals will play against Adelaide Lightning (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
