Regular Season Round 1: Ferrara - Lucca 75-73

Date: October 6, 2013
A very interesting game took place in Ferrara. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of bottom-ranked Lucca (0-1) to leader Naturhouse Ferrara (1-0) 75-73 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lucca won fourth quarter 24-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naturhouse Ferrara made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Power forward Michele Benfatto (205-85) fired 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. American point guard Julius Mays (188-89, college: Kentucky) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws). The former international forward Rodolfo Valenti (198-80) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Michael Deloach (183-86, college: Norfolk St.) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. Naturhouse Ferrara keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 7 other teams. Lucca at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Naturhouse Ferrara's next round opponent will be Matera (#12) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Lucca will play against Roseto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
