Regular Season Round 4: Malbas - Helsingborg 76-58

Date: October 6, 2013
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Helsingborg (0-1) in Malmo. Visitors were defeated by Malbas (2-0) 76-58. The game was mostly controlled by Malbas. Helsingborg was better in third quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Helsingborg 47-25 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Australian guard John Fitzgerald (193-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds and forward Niklas Sellin (197-91) supported him with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Malbas' coach Henrik Svensson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) by guard Billy Andersson (193-89) did not help to save the game for Helsingborg. Forward Felix Carlsson (193-95) added 17 points for lost side. Malbas keep a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Helsingborg at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with BG Lulea. Malbas will play against Haga Haninge (#4) at home in the next round. Helsingborg will play against IK Eos (#7) in Lund and hopes to get finally their first victory.
