Regular Season Round 5: Soles - Angeles 83-66

Bottom-ranked Angeles is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their second consecutive match to ninth ranked Soles (2-1) 83-66. The game was mostly controlled by Soles. Angeles was better in third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Angeles' 26 and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Angeles 60-28 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was power forward James Thomas (205-80, college: Texas) who scored 8 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Soles moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Huracanes. Newly promoted Angeles still closes the standings with two games lost. Soles' next round opponent will be again Angeles (#13) in Acapulco and are hoping to win another game.
