A very close game took place in Mikawa between Hamamatsu Phoenix and Shiga L-Stars. Hamamatsu Phoenix (1-2) got a very close home victory over Shiga L-Stars (2-1). Hamamatsu Phoenix managed to escape with a 2-point win 80-78 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Kavin Young Jr. (198-83, college: CS Stanislaus) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: Cal Merced) accounted for 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Young Jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. Panamanian forward Dionisio Gomez Camargo (203-80, college: Arkansas) came up with 23 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Brandon Fields (193-88, college: Nevada) added 15 points respectively for Shiga L-Stars in the defeat. Shiga L-Stars' coach Chris Boettcher rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hamamatsu Phoenix will again meet at home Shiga L-Stars (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next round.
