LNBP top team - Halcones Rojos (4-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Huracanes (2-2) in Veracruz 84-80. The hosts were already 17 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 31-18 Huracanes' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 84-80 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Huracanes 40-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Spanish-Dominican forward Edward Santana (203-80) notched 24 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and international guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) supported him with 20 points. Halcones Rojos' coach Oscar Castellanos allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Ken Horton (199-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) did not help to save the game for Huracanes. His fellow American import center Elbert Fuqua (211-83, college: UTSA) added 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Huracanes players scored in double figures.
