Regular Season Round 4: Bambitious Nara - Oita H.Devils 63-77

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Bambitious Nara (0-4) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Oita Heat Devils (2-2) 77-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Oita Heat Devils. Bambitious Nara was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oita Heat Devils made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Oita Heat Devils outrebounded Bambitious Nara 38-24 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Gabriel McCulley (200-89, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) who added 9 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Anthony Brown (203-86, college: Oklahoma St., agency: KMG Sports Management) responded with 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Joe Chapman (193-84, college: Marquette, agency: I.D.S. Law) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Oita Heat Devils moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Niigata Albirex and Sendai 89ers. Loser Bambitious Nara still closes the standings with four games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face Osaka Evessa (#5) at home in the next round. Bambitious Nara will play against Shinshu BW (#6) in Nagano and hopes to get finally their first victory.
