Regular Season Round 1: Venezia - Lucca 44-66

Date: October 13, 2013
The most interesting game of the last round was a loss of Venezia (0-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Lucca (1-0) 66-44. The game was mostly controlled by Lucca. Venezia managed to win fourth quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lucca forced 21 Venezia turnovers and outrebounded them 38-23 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jillian Robbins (190-84, college: Tulsa, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 9 rebounds. Dutch power forward Naomi Halman (191-86, college: Cal-Irvine) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. Romanian forward Simina Mandache (185-81) answered with 10 points and Slovakian center Marie Ruzickova (189-86, agency: LBM Management) added 10 points in the effort for Venezia. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lucca is looking forward to face Umbertide at home in the next round. Venezia will play against Priolo and is hoping to win this game.
