Regular Season Round 3: Northland - Mark Basket 100-82

Rather expected game in Lulea where Mark Basket (0-2) was defeated by Northland (1-0) 100-82. It looked good early as Mark Basket took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Northland had a 32-15 second period charge getting the lead and Mark Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-100. They outrebounded Mark Basket 52-29 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Northland players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Cleopatra Forsman-Goga (180-91) accounted for 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Northland players scored in double figures. American guard Taneisha Harrison (182-89, college: Pittsburgh) came up with 36 points (!!!) and 6 assists and the other American import guard Marissa Kastanek (175-90, college: N.Carolina St.) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively for Mark Basket in the defeat. Northland will play against Sallen (#4) in Uppsala in the next round. Mark Basket will play at home against Visby Ladies (#7) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
