Regular Season Round 1: Galil Gilboa - Hapoel Eilat 76-80

Another exciting game was played in Rosh Pina between Hapoel Eilat and Galil Gilboa where Hapoel Eilat (1-0) beat Galil Gilboa (0-1) on the road 80-76. It looked good early as Galil Gilboa took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Eilat had a 24-16 second period charge getting the lead and Galil Gilboa was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-80. Hapoel Eilat shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Afik Nissim (186-81) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 assists. American swingman Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. American forward Rick Jackson (206-89, college: Syracuse) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Stu Douglass (190-90, college: Michigan) added 15 points in the effort for Galil Gilboa. Hapoel Eilat will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Galil Gilboa will play against Maccabi Rishon (#4) in Rishon Le-Zion to get more than just one victory in their record.
