Regular Season Round 6: Fos Ouest - Maurienne 77-63
Date: October 15, 2013
Very predictable result in Fos-sur-Mer where third ranked Fos Ouest (5-1) beat 13th ranked Aix-Maurienne (2-4) 77-63. It looked good early as Aix-Maurienne took an 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fos Ouest took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 14 points. American swingman Chris Davis (195-80, college: N.Texas, agency: Court Side) notched 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Jamaican-American Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Even 10 points and 7 rebounds by naturalized Congolese power forward Boris Meno (203-83, college: Davidson, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for Aix-Maurienne. Naturalized Cameroonian guard Joachim Ekanga-Ehawa (187-77) added 14 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fos Ouest keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Chalons-Reims. Aix-Maurienne at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with four games lost. Fos Ouest's next round opponent will be SO Maritime Boulogne (#4) in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Aix-Maurienne will play at home against Boulazac Basket (#7).
