Regular Season Round 2: KR - IR 96-83
Date: October 17, 2013
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: KR (#4) and IR (#2). KR (2-0) won against visiting IR (1-1) 96-83. The game was mostly controlled by KR. IR managed to win fourth quarter 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. KR outrebounded IR 44-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international Helgi Magnusson (197-82, college: Catawba) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). American forward Shawn Atupem (200-89, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. KR's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Bjorgvin Rikhardsson (191-93) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (185-94, college: Flagler) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests.
