Regular Season Round 7: Soles - Lechugueros 80-75

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Soles' (3-1) home victory over 9th ranked Lechugueros (2-4) 80-75 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 27-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Soles made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Lechugueros were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Soles' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international guard Andre Joseph Tyronzic (191-81, college: Oregon) responded with 24 points and guard Luis Pulido (188-85, college: Cal Poly Pomona) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Soles. They moved-up to fifth place. Lechugueros lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with four games lost. Soles will face again Lechugueros (#9) in Leon in the next round.
