Regular Season Round 5: Baerum Basket - Tromso 64-72

There was a minor upset in Bekkestua where 5th ranked Baerum Basket (3-2) was defeated by fifth ranked Tromso (3-3) 72-64. It looked good early as Baerum Basket took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tromso had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and Baerum Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-72. Tromso made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Baerum Basket 48-25 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Mike St.John (203-84, college: La Salle, agency: Global Sports Plaza) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Gary Wallace (187-88, college: Robert Morris) accounted for 20 points and 11 rebounds. St.John is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Tromso players scored in double figures. American forward Austin Steed (203-88, college: E.Carolina) came up with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 blocks and guard Nils-Paul Skara (185-87, college: William & Mary) added 17 points respectively for Baerum Basket in the defeat. Baerum Basket's coach Pal Berg rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tromso maintains fifth place with 3-3 record. Defending champion Baerum Basket dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
