Regular Season Round 2: Taipans - Breakers 86-85

Important game to mention about took place in Cairns. Cairns Taipans (2-0) saved a 1-point victory at home edging New Zealand Breakers (1-2) 86-85 on Saturday evening. New Zealand Breakers were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded New Zealand Breakers 40-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. New Zealand Breakers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. International guard Cameron Gliddon (196-89, college: Concordia Irvine) scored 24 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Demetri McCamey (191-89, college: Illinois, agency: Edge Sports) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American point guard Kerron Johnson (185-90, college: Belmont) responded with 18 points and 5 assists and Fijian-New Zealand forward Mika Vukona (198-82) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. New Zealand Breakers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cairns Taipans will play against Adelaide 36ers (#3) in Findon in the next round, which may be the game of the day. New Zealand Breakers will play at home against Perth Wildcats to get more than just one victory in their record.
