NBL top team - Toshiba Thunders (6-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (1-6) in Kanagawa 84-77. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 31-23 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 21 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. His fellow American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) helped adding 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Darryl Darryl (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and the former international guard Fumio Nishimura (177-86) scored 18 points and 6 assists. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. They maintain first place with 6-1 record, which they share with Mitsubishi DD. Hitachi Sunrockers lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face again Hitachi Sunrockers (#6) in Tokyo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
