BJ League top team - Akita Happinets (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (1-2) 90-59. The game without a history. Akita Happinets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 36. Akita Happinets forced 19 Tokyo Cinq R. turnovers and outrebounded them 48-32 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Five Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. American power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the other American import swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. They share it with Yokohama BC. Akita Happinets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
