A very interesting game took place in Burgos. It ended with only two-point home defeat of Jopisa Burgos (0-2) to Pais Vasco (1-1) 56-54 on Saturday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-9. But Jopisa Burgos won third quarter 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Jopisa Burgos 40-20 including a 24-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) who scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Berta Chumillas (173-90) produced 13 points and 4 assists and American forward Adaora Elonu (185-90, college: Texas A&M) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Pais Vasco's next round opponent will be Perfumerias Avenida (#3) in Salamanca and it may be quite challenging game. Jopisa Burgos will play on the road against Ibaizabal (#5) in Galdakao.
