Regular Season Round 4: Sallen - Northland 72-65

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Northland (1-1) in Uppsala on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by top-ranked Sallen (2-0) 72-65. Northland trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 12 after three quarters before a 21-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 65-72 at the end of the game. Sallen outrebounded Northland 40-26 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Katarina Andersson (191-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Chioma Nnamaka (183-85, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Sallen players scored in double figures. American guard Katie Bussey (175-90, college: Montana St., agency: LBM Management) replied with 22 points (made all of her nine free throws !!!) and her fellow American import guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) added 21 points in the effort for Northland. Sallen moved-up to third place. Northland at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Sallen are looking forward to face Visby Ladies (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Northland will have a break next round.
