There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Yokohama BC (2-2) beat on the road 7th ranked Saitama Broncos (2-4) 86-74 on Sunday. Yokohama BC shot 21 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Saitama Broncos only scored five points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Marquise Gray (206-86, college: Michigan St.) who scored 32 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Masayuki Kabaya (183-82) chipped in 25 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Michael Joiner (200-81, college: Florida St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Bahamas center Anwar Ferguson (213-81, college: Houston) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively. Yokohama BC moved-up to sixth place. Loser Saitama Broncos keep the seventh position with four games lost. Yokohama BC will face Sendai 89ers (#9) at home in the next round. Saitama Broncos will play against the league's second-placed Osaka Evessa.
