Regular Season Round 8: Aishin SH - Hyogo S. 88-74

Undefeated leader Aishin Sea Horses delivered the eighth consecutive victory. This time they beat bottom-ranked Hyogo S. (0-6) 88-74 in Kariya. It looked good early as Hyogo S. took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aishin Sea Horses had a 23-9 second period charge getting the lead and Hyogo S. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-88. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hyogo S.'s 42. They outrebounded Hyogo S. 42-23 including 18 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who scored that evening 32 points and 6 rebounds and international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) supported him with 17 points. Even 31 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by American forward Carl Hall (203-89, college: Wichita St.) did not help to save the game for Hyogo S.. His fellow American import swingman William Knight (196-79, college: UCLA) added 17 points for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Newly promoted Hyogo S. still closes the standings with six games lost. Aishin Sea Horses' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hyogo S. will play at home against Kumamoto V. (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
