Regular Season Round 4: Haukar - KR 83-81

The most exciting game of round 4 in the Dominos League took place in Hafnarfjordur. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked KR (1-3) to eighth ranked Haukar (1-3) 83-81 in the game for the fifth place. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-81. Haukar forced 21 KR turnovers and outrebounded them 57-34 including a 24-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 19 rebounds, 5 assists and 9 steals and forward Dagbjoert Samuelsdottir (178-93) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Kelli Thompson (183-91, college: UNLV) responded with 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and swingman Berghora Tomasdottir (177-94) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. KR's coach Yngvi Gunnlaugsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Haukar left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated KR. Haukar is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Valur (#8) in Reykjavik in the next round. KR will play at home against Snaefell and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
