An interesting game where Hapoel Afula (#4) beat host Ironi Ashkelon (#3) 82-75 on Wednesday evening. American power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Yonathan Levi (206-90) chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. American forward Gregg Thondique (201-87, college: Virginia Union, agency: FCM) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Naor Sharon (193-95, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ironi Ashkelon's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Afula will meet at home Ironi Ramat Gan (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ironi Ashkelon will play against Hapoel Kazrin (#8) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Winner League just one year after relegation.
