There was a surprise result when Ramat Hasharon (1-1) defeated at home Beer Yaakov (1-1) 102-92 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Ramat Hasharon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Donald Rutherford (199-87, college: Catawba) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized British guard Dan Bank (188-84) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Ramat Hasharon players scored in double figures. American guard Ray Willis (198-89, college: N.C.Central) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Ramat Hasharon will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Beer Yaakov will play against Elitzur Ramla (#7) and hope to win that game.
