Regular Season Round 9: Tsukuba R. - Wakayama T. 67-95

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tsukuba. Third ranked Wakayama T. faced 4th placed Tsukuba R.. Guests from Wakayama (6-2) smashed host Tsukuba R. (3-7) 95-67. The game without a history. Wakayama T. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 42. Wakayama T. had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Tsukuba R.'s players. The best player for the winners was American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (on 17-of-20 shooting from the field). His fellow American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota, agency: SportsTalent) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Daichi Tanaka (183-89) added 14 points respectively. Four Tsukuba R. players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Wakayama T.. They moved-up to second place. Tsukuba R. lost their third game in a row. Tsukuba R. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
