Regular Season Round 9: Lechugueros - Corr.Victoria 90-64
Date: October 24, 2013
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Leon where 10th ranked Correcaminos (2-5) were crushed by eleventh ranked Lechugueros (3-5) 90-64 on Thursday. The game without a history. Lechugueros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lechugueros outrebounded Correcaminos 46-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American swingman Deilvez Yearby (198-87, college: IPFW) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Anthony James (183-89, college: N.Iowa) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lechugueros moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Panteras. Loser Correcaminos dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Lechugueros will face higher ranked Huracanes (#6) in Tampico in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Correcaminos will play on the road against Panteras (#8) in Aguascalientes and hope to win that game.
