Regular Season Round 3: Taipans - 36ers 84-87

Date: October 25, 2013
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Cairns Taipans (2-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by Adelaide 36ers (2-2) 87-84. Cairns Taipans were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 11-point lead after three quarters before a 32-18 charge of Adelaide 36ers, which allowed them to win the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Cairns Taipans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American forward Jarrid Frye (196-85, college: Sacred Heart) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 7 rebounds. International power forward Anthony Petrie (203-83) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. Adelaide 36ers' coach Joey Wright used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Alexander Loughton (206-83, college: ODU) with 22 points and American point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Adelaide 36ers and four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Adelaide 36ers are looking forward to face New Zealand Breakers (#8) in Auckland in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cairns Taipans will play at home against Melbourne Tigers (#7) and are hoping to win this game.
