Regular Season Round 6: Artego Bydg. - Widzew 69-64

Bottom-ranked Widzew (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 69-64 loss to fifth ranked Artego Bydg. (4-2) in Bydgoszcz. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-10. But Widzew won second period 20-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Leah Metcalf (170-83, college: N.Carolina) notched a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and the other American import center Jessica Lawson (191-86, college: S.Florida) supported her with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Four Artego Bydg. players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by American power forward Tynikki Crook (185-89, college: Marshall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) did not help to save the game for Widzew. The former international guard Alicja Bednarek (170-83) added 18 points. Artego Bydg. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Basket ROW and Wilki Morskie. Widzew at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Artego Bydg.'s next round opponent will be AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#7) in Gorzow Wlkp.. Widzew will play at home against Riviera Gdynia and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
