Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Yokohama BC (4-2) beat at home 9th ranked Sendai 89ers (2-6) 86-78. It looked good early as Sendai 89ers took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Yokohama BC took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 8 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Sendai 89ers' 32. They outrebounded Sendai 89ers 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Yokohama BC players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Marquise Gray (206-86, college: Michigan St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Omar Reed (200-87, college: Bluefield, agency: Norton Sports Management) accounted for 18 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. Yokohama BC's coach Michael Katsuhisa used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American Travele Travel (203-88, college: Texas Southern) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals (made all of his seven free throws) and guard Takehiko Takehiko (160-83) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for Sendai 89ers in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Yokohama BC. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Sendai 89ers lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
