Regular Season Round 2: Olimpi - Maccabi Tbilisi 96-59
Date: October 26, 2013
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tbilisi: Olimpi (#7) and Maccabi Tbilisi (#6). Olimpi (1-1) smashed visiting Maccabi Tbilisi (0-2) by 37 points 96-59. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpi. Maccabi Tbilisi managed to win third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Maccabi Tbilisi to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Maccabi Tbilisi 53-37 including 20 on the offensive glass. Olimpi looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Center Revaz Atanelishvili (207-86, agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Giorgi Gulisabedashvili (194-88, agency: Court Side) supported him with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Olimpi players scored in double figures. Olimpi's coach Davit Tortladze felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by center Giorgi Periashvili (210-91) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Tbilisi. Center Levan Revazashvili (207-92) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Olimpi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Maccabi Tbilisi will play against Kutaisi (#2) and hope to win that game.
