Regular Season Round 4: Gimbasket Wroclaw - Alba Chorzow 60-99

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Gimbasket Wroclaw (0-4) was outplayed at home by sixth ranked Alba Chorzow (2-2) 99-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Alba Chorzow. Gimbasket Wroclaw was better in fourth quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gimbasket Wroclaw to just 7 points in first quarter. Alba Chorzow dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gimbasket Wroclaw's 28 and had 31 for 44 from the free-throw line, while Gimbasket Wroclaw only scored fourteen points from the stripe. Alba Chorzow forced 27 Gimbasket Wroclaw turnovers and outrebounded them 26-15 including 19 on the defensive glass. Gimbasket Wroclaw was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Lukasz Wojcik (188-84) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Damian Tokarski (193-88) who added 20 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. Four Alba Chorzow players scored in double figures. At the losing side Dawid Piasecki (189-95) responded with 16 points and center Michal Gluchowicz (193-94) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alba Chorzow maintains sixth position in Group B with 2-2 record, which they share with Nysa Klodzko. Newly promoted Gimbasket Wroclaw still closes the standings with four games lost. Alba Chorzow will face Nysa Klodzko (#7) in Kloszko in the next round. Gimbasket Wroclaw will play on the road against Pogon Prudnik (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
