The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Catz Lappeenranta as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Catz Lappeenranta smashed 6th ranked HoNsU at home 77-41. It looked good early as HoNsU took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Catz Lappeenranta had a 17-8 second period charge getting the lead and HoNsU was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 41-77. Catz Lappeenranta dominated on the defensive end, holding HoNsU to just 6 points in third and fourth quarters and to 14 points in second half. Catz Lappeenranta dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to HoNsU's 30. Catz Lappeenranta forced 19 HoNsU turnovers. American guard Jordan Murphree (183-87, college: Texas Tech, agency: Merit Management Group) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Alexandria Anderson (186-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Regeneracom Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. Catz Lappeenranta's coach Mika Haakana felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Minna Sten (190-87) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Nikki Speed (173-90, college: Rutgers) added 8 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for HoNsU. Catz Lappeenranta have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. HoNsU at the other side keeps the sixth place with three games lost. HoNsU will play next round against strong Peli-Karhut trying to get back on the winning streak.
