The most surprising game was a loss of Unicaja Malaga (2-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by Valencia Basket (2-1) 74-71. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Unicaja Malaga won fourth quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Central African swingman Romain Sato (194-81, college: Xavier) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (188-89) with 19 points and 5 assists and American-Azerbaijani forward Niklas Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Beo Basket) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket is looking forward to face Blancos de Rueda (#14) in Valladolid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Unicaja Malaga will play on the road against FIATC Joventut (#11) in Badalona and is hoping to win this game.
