Regular Season Round 5: Njardvik - Keflavik 64-73

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Njardvik. Leader Keflavik faced 4th placed Njardvik. Guests from Keflavik (5-0) defeated host Njardvik (2-3) 73-64. Njardvik trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 23-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 64-73 at the end of the game. Keflavik forced 24 Njardvik turnovers. Strangely Njardvik outrebounded Keflavik 50-26 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Porsche Landry (155-89, college: Houston) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winners and international forward Sara Run Hinriksdottir (165-96) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Jasmine Beverly (180-91, college: Cal.Baptist) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds and center Salbjorg Saevarsdottir (182-91) scored 7 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Keflavik have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-0 record. Loser Njardvik keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Haukar and Hamar. Keflavik will meet at home KR (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Njardvik will play against Grindavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
