Regular Season Round 3: Sidigas AV - Virtus RM 84-82

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Lottomatica Roma (2-1) on the court of Air Avellino. Visitors were edged by Air Avellino 84-82. It looked good early as Lottomatica Roma took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Air Avellino had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and Lottomatica Roma was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-84. Air Avellino made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) accounted for 20 points and 11 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side. American guard Phil Goss (188-83, college: Drexel) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import point guard Jordan Taylor (185-89, college: Wisconsin) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for Lottomatica Roma in the defeat. Four Air Avellino and five Lottomatica Roma players scored in double figures. Lottomatica Roma's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Air Avellino will play against Cimberio Varese (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lottomatica Roma will play against Cantu (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
