Important game to mention about took place in Tokyo. Sixth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (2-8) saved a 2-point victory at home edging much higher ranked Toyota Alvark (7-3) 65-63 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. The hosts were ahead by 9 points but lost the second period ending it with a 7-point deficit before their 22-13 run, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Darryl Webb (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 22 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Fumio Nishimura (177-86) supported him with 13 points and 6 assists. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Jeff Jeffrey (188-80, college: Otterbein) did not help to save the game for Toyota Alvark. The former international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) added 18 points for lost side. Toyota Alvark's coach Don Beck tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hitachi Sunrockers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Kumamoto V. Defending champion Toyota Alvark keeps the second position with three games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Chiba Jets (#5) at home in the next round. Toyota Alvark will play against Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
