Regular Season Round 5: Houthalen - Tulikivi Deerlijk 72-52

The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Houthalen's (2-2) home victory over 8th ranked Tulikivi (1-4) 72-52 on Sunday. The game without a history. Houthalen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Houthalen outrebounded Tulikivi 37-21 including a 30-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Nathalie Smolders (177-92) who scored 25 points. Forward Wendy Bas (186-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Angcle Boucquey (175-81) produced 13 points and center Eline Verbeest (186-86) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Houthalen moved-up to sixth place. Tulikivi lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. Houthalen will face higher ranked Sint Kateline Waver (#3) in Sint Katelijne in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tulikivi will play at home against Blue Cats (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
