Regular Season Round 5: Wilki Morskie - SIDEn Torun 76-79

The most exciting game of round 5 in the 1Liga took place in Szczecin. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th ranked Wilki Morskie (2-3) to leader SIDEn Torun (5-0) 79-76 on Monday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 20-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. SIDEn Torun had a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Wilki Morskie helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Center Adam Lisewski (205-80) stepped up and scored 8 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Piotr Smigielski (195-89) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Marcin Stoklosa (188-77) responded with 20 points and 7 assists and swingman Piotr Pluta (193-81, agency: Court Side) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SIDEn Torun have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with MOSiR Krosno. Wilki Morskie at the other side keeps the eighth place with three games lost. They share the position with Znicz Basket and Astoria Bydg.. SIDEn Torun is looking forward to face MCKiS Jaworz. (#12) in Jaworzno in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Wilki Morskie will play on the road against Spojnia (#14) in Stargard and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
